Obviously. It's timed to divert attention from the upcoming indictments. Or the indictments are timed to divert attention from the Miers withdrawal. Or they're both timed to divert attention from the recent revelation that Condi is a lizardwoman. Or perhaps something even more nefarious.

That's an interesting question. Whomever he goes to, I guess it has to be someone whose intellectual/judicial credentials are sterling, doesn't it?

Maybe renominate Ginsburg? (Not Ruth-Bader.)

There's a large pool of well-qualified conservatives. Some of them are even minorities and women if he is so inclined. With the beating he took from all sides on this one, let's just hope he's not foolish enough to nominate Gonzales. People on both sides hate him too.
