Spelling intentional.
When I played university hockey, I weighed in at 170 lbs. Then I graduated, got a car, and started driving everywhere. I got up to 190 lbs (!) in about three months. Now I've stabilized at around 180 lbs. I'm playing semiprofessionally now, and I'm trying to fight off my teammate for the #1 spot. Problem is, this kid is nine years my junior and fresh out of division one college. I don't want to lose weight - I want to gain back the muscle mass I had when I was playing my best. Part of that would mean less fat and looser clothes. Anyhow, I'm starting my own thread mainly to keep myself honest. Huzzah! |

Here's my plan, which I've been pretty much sticking to (I track it on a spreadsheet - I'm such a nerd):
I plan to hit the gym a minimum of three times per week, for at least two hours at a time. That time will be split 50/50 between cardio (elliptical trainer mostly) and weight training (not including 15 minutes of stretching). Once per week I'm going to include plyometric training into the above weight work. I want to do 50,000 situps and 50,000 pushups this year (that's about 137 of each per day). I'm trying to do at least 100 of each every day, and then extra on days where I don't lift. Right now I'm on pace for about 38,000 of each, so I've really got to pick it up. Once the weather gets nicer, I'm planning on forty miles per week of inline skating, or 100 miles per week of cycling (or a convex combination of those). I play before work twice a week, so I can't work out the night before (I've tried, and I'm even slower than usual, if you can believe that). So it could be tough, which is why I'm going to use peer pressure to my advantage on the AO. Yeah! |

Finally had a solid day in the gym, but I'm starting to see why most good-looking people I know don't have jobs.
Stair-climber: thirty minutes, 458 floors Elliptic trainer: thirty minutes, 3.29 miles Weight room: seventeen minutes 196 push-ups 171 sit-ups Yeah, I'm a looser. |
