Default Brain's Ultimate PGA Championship Contest

The rules are simple.

1. In the table below I have assigned players a value ranging from 1 to 5 points.
2. Assemble a foursome with a maximum value of 11 points.
3. Your score will be the 72 hole "best ball" score for your foursome on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you lose a player (or two or three) to the cut - too bad. Go cry in your oatmeal, but don't whine to me.
4. Entries must be PMed to me by 5 pm EDT Wed Aug 14.
5. If we do not have at least 8 entries, contest will be cancelled.
6. Limit of one entry per ID.
7. Teams with a value of less than 11 points will be awarded a "handicap" of: 2 * (11 - team value) for their 4 day score (not per day).
8. Any eligible player not found on the table below may be used at a value of 1 point.
9. Foursomes will be published on Thursday, August 15 and held up for ridicule.
10. At the end of the contest, a minimum of daily scores and total score will be posted, though I reserve the right to post hole by hole scores.

At this point the field has not been finalized. Players marked with an asterisk (*) were not in the field as of 7/10. You may check here for field updates.

I'll take a break this time, unless there is considerable demand for my game instead of this one.
Brain, your rankings are based on what? I don't want to have to find the sandbagger in the bunch. Just a quick 'splanation, please.

I for one question putting Tiger Woods on the same level as all of those other guys. He should be worth at least 7 points on your scale.

From world golf rankings

Nos. 1- 5 are 5 points each
6-20 are 4 points each
21-40 are 3 points each
41-75 are 2 points each
everyone else 1 point

Club pros are provided as an fyi, I was going to make everyone take one.

I will not be playing, only acting as scorekeeper.

Yes Brain, but if they called them "Sad Meals", then kids wouldn't buy them.

Yes Brain, but where are we going to get a pair of rubber pants that big?

So if you lose two players, your best ball score comes from the two remaining?

Of course.

This game is based on a game done by ESPN for the other majors. Needless to say, they have more time and staff to build reasonable values for the players.

I have seen a four-player team score a best-ball bogey, and I have seen a two-player team play 18 holes bogey free. I think we'd all agree, the more guys that make it to the weekend, the better your chances are.
