New products, old products, sold products, closed products - For all those who work at a company that can define a product line. What is your product documentation method?
This survey is in reference to the actuarial departments product documentation and its relationship to the rest of the company. I'm curious how well documented your products are. Perfect documentation is defined by the other shoes method. If I got this product from some other company how well could I perform my actuarial duties, administer it, sell it, etc.

I joined this company two years ago and needed to learn about our products. I found that for each product we have a binder with almost all of the information (actuarial and non-actuarial) that I needed to know to understand that product. Our entire company is big on documentation. We have a department (about 10 people) whose sole function is to document procedures for every product, every system, every change in the way we do business, and everybody in the company knows how to access these documents.

I'm relatively young, and have no clue what you mean, so I put other.
