Default Should Vick be banned for life from the NFL?

What do you think? Should he be banned? I don't know if this was already posted, but now that he accepted a plea deal, what do you think?

By the way, please don't count a suspension for a few seasons as a ban. This is only a lifetime ban.

Personally, I don't think he should be banned for life. Theoretically, the US justice system believes in rehabilitation. If Vick serves his time, I say let him have his job when he comes back.

Should he in the ethical sense? No, we shouldn't take away people's careers after they are done serving time.

Should he under NFL rules? Yeah, probably, the gambling prohibition is pretty widespread.

Will he be? Hard to say. Probably 'indefinitely, with a chance of reinstatement'.

In the 1960s, there were two players who admitted they placed bets on NFL games. They were suspended for one season. IMO, as far as a gambling policy goes, betting on NFL games is worse than betting on something else. This, of course, is not taking the criminal aspect into account.

well, I think his NFL career is done. Even after his time, he'll be X years removed from the league, which is hard to recover from. The game is so fast these days.

Also, how many owners will want the liability?

So the discussion may be moot, unless this is very Pete Rose-ian and we want to know if he should be banned from the HoF also. IMHO, Rose shouldn't be banned from the HoF, so my opinion is the same here.

Thanks for the opinion. Can you move this to Sports, please?

No, this is a political discussion, discussing the workings of the justice system, and how other people view crime and punishment for the crime.
