I've passed the P, FM, and MLC exams and I'm doing MFE in May. I want to do the VEE soon, and I'm wondering how many VEE courses through NEAS I could do at the same time. Is it completely insane to try all 5 at once?
They say that each course is 24 modules, lasts 8 weeks, so 3 modules per week. Each module takes 0.5-1 hour of study, so 1.5-3 hours per week per course. 5 courses is then 7.5-15 hours per week, which seems ambitious, but not impossible, especially if I can get my company to give me study time for them. What do people think? |

you could look into other vee methods other than neas. people swear CLEP is an easy way to get the econ credit, for example. cpcu for the finance.

Yeah, it sounds a little insane. Why the hurry? Rather than piling them up, I'd consider them one at a time as time allows.
If you go CLEP for economics, not only do you get an easier alternative, you get more flexibility in scheduling. You can take it any time. That makes it an ideal "swing test" - you don't need to commit to it until the last minute when you know for sure you have the time. My understanding is CPCU for finance is a little less flexible (but better than NEAS?). Comments people have made also seem to indicate that it takes a little more study time than the CLEP econ - maybe because you have to pass it in one test rather than the CLEP's two separate exams. i have heard 60 hrs of prep is plenty for CPCU, and it has 4 testing windows a year.

Someone here had mentioned Athabasca U online as an alternative for finance a while back, but it seemed to me to be a more expensive alternative. I'd imagine there are others on the list that are available online, but I guess you'd have to look them all up to see if they were offered that way.

U of phoenix is approved. two classes required to get finance credit.
http://eande.soa.org/vee/pdf/edu-vee...ed-courses.pdf athabasca (in Alberta?) requires one class. I have no idea of the cost of these or the time commitment. |

You could do the work for all five at once if you want without signing up for them. Then sign up to take the exams as you have time to do them. You might overwhelm yourself by signing up for all five....and you will only want to do them once. Plus you won't want to take away valuable study time that you will need for exam C.
