Default Dogs and their alleged nastiness

OK, there seems to be a lot of clutter in that one thread that started off with an article about cruelty to animals, moved into how gross dogs and cats are, and has now disintegrated into a flirt-fest between TDA and The Waiting Hurts. Anyway, I wanted to convey this story about one of my dogs, whom I normally adore.

I got home last night, and as usual our 1-yr-old maltese is waiting for me. I pick him up and in his joy he starts licking my nose. As he is doing this, I kiddingly ask my wife, "He didn't eat poo today, did he?"

"Oh my gosh. I had just sat down to dinner [she ate without me because I had to work late], and I heard this awful gagging sound. Our beloved puppy threw up a terrible mixture of our other dog's poo, rabbit poo, the nose that he ripped off his newest plush toy yesterday, and probably a bit of his dinner."

Of course, I immediately went and washed my face.

P.S.: Our other dog, a sheltie, is the most polite and clean dog I've ever seen. He doesn't eat anything other than what we feed him, and only casually sniffs other dogs' butts (and usually stays away from them altogether). I think the calmer breeds simply aren't as prone to such disgusting habits. His favorite thing to do is lick my wife's feet. Luckily, I don't have the same fetish.

I deny those alligations. They are hurtful and cruel.

Will you still continue to allow the dogs to lick you? (no jokes please)

Probably. But I'll be even more diligent about washing up before meals, after playing with the dogs, etc.

Do you or will you let your kids play in the yard or in a park? You know there's dirt out there. Eeeeevil, nasty dirt. With bugs and dead things in it.

I'll see to it that my kids, when I have kids, don't eat other kids poo, dog poo, or rabbit poo.

Don't be rash, kids can be expensive to feed!

I was expecting this to be some sort of tangent. Unfortunately it is.

My dog likes being clean, always seems happier clean, just doesnt understand why she always gets dirty.
