I raided a small bottle of something in my house labeled "Chianti Classico" with the word "Banfi" also written there.
I was drinking straight out of the bottle, and the stuff tasted unusually sweet. My thoughts were that I didn't remember Chianti tasting like this, and had to wrack my brain as to whether I have 100% definitely ever for sure even had Chianti. I was wondering what could have happened: some sort of oxidation that made it taste like a sherry? It tasted vaguely like a fruit syrup you can get in an Eastern European store. Hmmm, what tastes like this? Lambrusco? No, forget it, this was more like Mogen David or something! This morning I wondered if the stuff would make a good flavoring for water. I poured some into a cup and it looked like a dark grey-blue, which gave me an idea of what could have happened, because of information I have not posted. But I am not sure. I would like to know if ao chemist or wine experts have any thoughts on this, or where someone can take something and say, here, I'd like to pay you to tell me a little about what's in this. If I find out anything, I will post, and after the opportunity for the experts to chime in has exhausted itself, I can post the "additional unposted information" if anyone is curious. TIA.
