So you know <name removed> too?
Yes. But, only actuarially.

I really think you should edit your post to remove her name. I intentionally left it out - never bothered her before, but it wasn't exactly public info, either, IIRC.

(Haven't talked to her in a few years, but I heard a rumor that she's no longer performing???? I really don't know)

It isn't like it was an uncommon name. And from what I hear, she is not longer in the actuarial field.

Was that you who said you had a lawyer friend (who has passed the bar) that was taking our exams and said that they were much harder than the Bar? I could be wrong of course.
Nope - not me.

I think it's well established that the actuarial exams are more difficult than the bar exams.

At least among actuaries
I'm not questioning or trying to argue.. but I never understand how anybody can put two totally different professional exams side by side and say which is harder than which... Since the two exams test different knowledge, I don't see how a fair comparison can be made...

For instance, a pianist will probably think the violin is impossible to play while as a violinist may think that a piano is difficult to master... does that make sense? Anyway, it's friday. I need some alcohol.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but someone (not Gretchen) said this. It's a good measure to tell people who have no idea about the exams to let them know the difficulty and such.

Is the piano harder for the pianist than the violin is for the violinist?
Or in other words, are actuarial exams harder for actuaries than the bar exam (plus law school) is for lawyers?

There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary to public interest. This strange doctrine is not supported by statute or common law. Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back. - Life-Line, Robert A. Heinlein, 1939
