4D. Having already declared a minimum, this seems like a freebe. Perhaps partner has some freak hand with lots of hearts and needs the diamond cue.

So, what did you bid? And what did he actually have? And who (if anyone) forgot the bidding system?

I'll see if I can still find the hand...

It wasn't my partnership, and I even sat the other direction. I brought this to the AO because there was some question about what "my" hand should do, and I appreciate the many responses.

Partner in fact made a weak jump response with a seventh spade. In my opinion, if partner heard "me" explain his weak jump as a weak jump, and then saw "me" bid 3, I think "he" should pass. But it was interesting enough. "me" at the other table claimed that partner's 3 rebid was a non-bid ipso facto demonstrating that he'd forgotten the system, and therefore passable, and perhaps it was, but if that, then it almost certainly showed spades. So why not raise to four?

and to follow up, while there were many fine pairs in this seven-table game -- pairs that I'd be pleased to play in flight a with -- there were also many pairs who aren't quite up to that standard. This was a club game, not the Reisinger.
