Good news on the case study questions - there won't be any. Looks like the SOA updated the syllabus on Feb 1 that there won't be a case study.

lol I was just on the SOA website printing off the case study when I decided to use my due-diligence and check the updates...couldn't believe it! I'm pretty excited right now, and I immediately came here to see if anyone noticed this lol. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Personally, I am glad it's not on there.

Also, the solutions for the fall exam are now up.

My coworkers tell me that it doesn't change a lot - they'll just give you data for case study-type questions on the exam itself. Good ol' read through material.

Haha, at the end of the day, all that really ever matters is how many lists you have memorized and the probability that the SOA asks you to recite the ones that you know well.

Memorization - what's your strategy? I'll be doing some memorizing starting today and every day until exam day mainly by re-reading notes and also some list memorization.

My strategy has been stressful because I'm trying to memorize all the ACE cards. So far, I'm about 300 down. I try to do 10 to 20 a day, but it's really draining. I'm under the impression that writing down formulas and applying the numbers to the formulas gives you the most points, even if you mess the calculation step up. Also, nailing all the "list" questions is a big key to passing this monster.

Occasionally I'll spend an evening filtering through old practice exams. This is how I learned to apply SNL concepts and 7702 where memorization only gets you so far.

I'm also using the Ace cards. Been going through the Ace manual along with the cards and making final additions to the cards. Aim is to be through with adding notes to the the cards in 2 weeks. Also have the Ace cds, been listening to them and memorizing everyday on the drive to work. Unsure of the long-term impact on my sanity of listening to those cds everyday while in traffic.
