Default May or October?

I have been studying diligently for 3 hours each day since early February and so far I'm almost halfway through my beastly 1,200 page study manual (excluding practice exams). I have been moving slower than I thought and originally I wanted at least a month of just practicing problems but I don't think I'll get that now. So far I need to cover some parametric fitting, testing fit, credibility, and simulation before I start practicing problems. Have I already covered the most difficult material?
However, I think I can get through all the SOA practice problems and if I am able to run through them once, do you think that will prepare me enough for the exam? I don't want to waste $375 if I'm not prepared.
