at work typing; at home browsing, e-mail, xbmc, plex. At home I have ubuntu 10.04 (with kernel 3.0.x) on a P-4 desktop and 11.04 on lap-top; mac mini and imac. When I get time I'll install Fedora 16 and OS-X (hackintosh). So, basically with computers, I am good at wasting time.

I've got Ubuntu 11.10 on a laptop, because I replaced the failed hard drive and it was easier than trying to find the windows install disk. This has become my semi-dedicated maker laptop - Blender to Mesh Lab to ReplicatorG to 3D printer. I'm also enjoying just playing with a new OS, because I am that nerdy.
I'm not sure the urgency of upgrading. What are the big improvements in 12.04?

It's an LTS version (theoretically more stable and will get updates for quite a while). If you're on 11.10, it's just an incremental change. I think the search feature is the biggest thing, and probably quite useful. I have a hard time finding programs sometimes. Will save time from going into the "control panel" and finding the icon too.

I installed Precise Pangolin this week and am trying it out this morning. I don't know if it's me or if its the improvements, but I don't totally hate Unity anymore.
The buzz has been around the HUD. It adds to the usability of Unity, but it doesn't really make the clouds in the sky part bringing down beams of sunlight to the sound of angels singing. |

I installed 12.04 on the P4; it was kind of unintentional. Installed fedora 16 on P4 to dual boot with 10.04. It took sometime to get the linksys wireless card to work. After that, could not boot ubuntu; fedora installation must have messed up the grub or something else. I did a clean installation of 12.04. It looks very impressive; boot time is little longer than 10.04.
