How likely is a question on this to come up? I don't want to waste my time on this subject if I don't have to.

God forbid you learn something that might be useful for your entire career if it is unlikely to appear on the upcoming exam.

Yes, it is used in work, and yes, you use it a lot on this exam without realizing it. Whenever you want to test a hypothesis, you want to use a best test (if possible; i.e., if one exists). That means a uniformly most powerful test.
At least for the exam, you normally have learned what these best tests are, and therefore you don't usually have to go through the process of deciding if it is a uniformly most powerful test. In some cases, the test you have learned will not be uniformly most powerful, but in those cases no uniformly most powerful test exists. |

In the workplace, uniformly most powerful critical region isn't a distinct topic. Deciding on your null and alternative hypotheses and deciding how to test whether to reject the null hypothesis, including the critical region, are all interrelated.

Well thanks for answering my question. I wasn't asking if it was useful in the workplace. If it is (and how exactly could you know what I do in my day-to-day job anyways?) then I will learn it when I don't have more pressing things to master- like exam material!

I thought CAS 3 exams were released, if so... what's stopping you from looking through the exams and seeing for yourself?
