About the Job

Athene Annuity & Life Assurance Company seeks an Assistant Actuary, Risk Modeling, for its Greenville, SC headquarters. The Assistant Actuary is responsible for modeling and analysis of life insurance and annuities including projections of income and liabilities for GAAP and statutory budget and forecasting purposes.

Responsibilities

• Complete embedded value calculations on a quarterly basis, implement improvements to the process, and provide analysis to explain results
• Update and run cash flow testing models to test reserve adequacy
• Produce a quarterly cost of funds analysis of the liability portfolio
• Validate and incorporate asset cash flows from the asset manager into the asset/liability models
• Assist with monthly risk metric reporting of the liability portfolio
• Provide support to modeling of acquisitions/new business opportunities
• Provide support for quarterly income and liability projections for GAAP and statutory budget and forecasting purposes
• Assist in validating asset data, asset modeling assumptions, and implementing asset model improvements
• Implement and document necessary controls to ensure results are accurate

Credentials and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, economics, or related field.
• Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
• At least 5 years of experience in the life insurance industry, with experience in fixed annuities highly preferred
• Experience with U.S. statutory and U.S. GAAP reserving guidelines for annuities
• Proficient in actuarial projection and valuation software, preferably in MG-ALFA
• Knowledge of assets (e.g. bonds, structured securities, and mortgage products) strongly preferred
• Ability to set and manage priorities in a changing work environment is essential
• Ability to effectively participate in, and help foster, a team based work environment
• Excellent oral and written English language skills
