Default NetHack

Back in the day, it was actually Moria that I used to play on the VAX server, if I recall correctly. Nonetheless. Might have been Rogue. Anyway.

This game plus my OCD are a bad combination for getting anything else done in life.

I am not good at it, however.

That is all. Advice on how to keep it at a reasonable level and/or rock the game appreciated.

depends on how much you want to be spoiled. the game isn't transparent and is likely not beatable without spoilers. there are also certain tricks you can use to massively decrease the difficulty of the game. this guide will spoil the heck out of you but also guide you through beating the game (but it's not a guarantee, just gives you the game knowledge, spoilers and advice you need to know.) I beat Nethack as a wizard after quite a few tries using this guide.

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is a modern take on this genre and is much, much more user-friendly and beatable without any spoilers. I would recommend it if you want to try something in this genre that's a bit more accessible.
