It still may have come out but he was wiretapped supposedly due to funny things going on with his bank accounts. So, maybe it still hits the media, not sure it would bring him down though but he had to resign mainly because he was doing something illegal. I doubt Spitzer would have resigned due to shame (didn't stop the SC governor from staying in office)

The issue was his lying under oath if I recall. Also, didn't clinton have a history of sexual assault on many women?
