I don't blame HM for trying to make sure that he doesn't get ripped off by unscroupluous candidates.

It sounds like you were able to at least print from the Digital Editions software. I guess this means I'll be swinging by Best Buy to purchase a printer capable of duplex.

Are you guys saying that whatever computer I use to buy the material is the only computer I can use to view the document with? Not a big deal of course so long as I buy and print at work.

Default DRM

I had more than one student at my Exam 4/C Seminar who was looking at the electronic version of my notes (for 4/C) on an iPad. So I would say yes they are iPAd compatible.

DRM is how Actuarial Bookstore and Actex / Mad River Books put out all electronic study guides, not just mine.
2012 is the first year I have sold electronic study guides.
(Some inconvenience but a lower price and some advantages compared to hard copy.)
I am not an expert on DRM. (I send the bookstore a PDF and they convert it.)

Some students have had to ask the bookstore for some help the first time they get a DRM.
I believe they have been able to resolve all problems.

You should be able to print out 2 copies and look at the file on several devices (I think the devices have to share some sort of registration, but I am not sure how this works.)

I suggest you ask the Bookstore if you have any specific questions.

By the way if I bought an electronic study guide, I would start by printing out selected portions.

For the iPad, you'd have to use an app that supports Digital Editions DRM. The only one I know of is Bluefire Reader. It's free.

Looks like another app that should work (for both Android and iOS) is txtr.

You have to upload the pdf to the txtr.com website first, I believe.

Txtr is what Actex recommends. Haven't bought the manual yet, but it doesn't look too complicated.

This Digital Editions thing is going to be very annoying. I can't even copy his proposed order of studying into excel.

Definitely worth paying $49 for, but I'd rather pay $199 and have a pdf.

Went back and forth with txtr's customer service, but they finally updated their app this week and I got this thing loaded on my iPad!
