Well it ended up being a fine experience. I put my cellphone on speaker, so it was basically the same as if I were using the computer's mic and speakers. It's an interesting middle ground between the in-person and phone types of interviews. They can see your facial expressions and body-language to some degree, but it's not the microscope of being in the same room. My guess is that this sort of thing will replace the phone screening in the near future since the webcams are so prevalent now.

I got asked basic questions about my choices on my career arc, previous experience, what I like about the company and opening. He asked me a couple of behavioral questions too, and what I scored on my two exams. As much as I try to prep for those behaviorals, there are just too many possible scenarios to have a situation ready for each.

My dad said something similar .

Webcam is just something that I think of as a very informal thing. I think it's the phone + webcam combo that gets to me. I assume just use my computer speakers and speak on webcam as I normally would, but I shan't question the powers that be.

Good to hear that yours seemed to go well. Behaviorals are a pain; this will be my first go at them with face visible.

Any other recommendations on attire or otherwise? My interview is tomorrow morning .

My face started peeling today, so I guess I lucked out wrt timing.
How was yours?

I'm a little bit curious about being asked my exam scores. This was the first time that an interviewer ever did that (3 on-site interviews, 4 electronic), so I'm wondering how normal/valid it is that they ask for that info. I actually misremembered one score, and had to write a followup email to get them the corrected (higher) score.

It's going to be awkward interviewing both of you in person on the same day....

Mine apparently didn't go so well. I've already received my rejection email . This was my first interview with an actuary so far, so at the least, it was good practice for the ones I have scheduled in the next few days.

Sorry, I don't really care about people on a personal level. dammit Jim, I'm an actuary, not a hippie!!

Sorry to hear that, Fenex. Time to send the resume out to another 100 folks or so.

And now I've been turned down as well. I'm nearing a mental breaking point. People seem to want me to take another exam before my candidacy will go anywhere. I feel like, why should I have to put so much towards a profession that has given me absolutely nothing?

You have two exams and you are complaining about being asked of too much?
