Pay careful attention, though, because which part of the case study is relevant to you depends on your reading extension.

(a) Candidates who elect the Individual Life and Annuities Extension will answer questions based on information about Simple Life;

(b) Candidates who elect the Group and Health Extension will answer questions based on
information about AHA Health and Active Choice;

(c) Candidates who elect the General Insurance Extension will answer questions based on
information about Pryde P&C;

(d) Candidates who elect the Retirement Benefits Extension will answer questions based on
information about the pension plans sponsored by Simple Life and AHA Health;

(e) Candidates who elect the Investment Extension will answer questions based on
investment information for Simple Life and about the pension plans sponsored by Simple
Life and AHA Health; and

(f) Candidates who elect the General Corporate ERM Extension will answer questions based
on information presented for all five companies, except that the questions will be related
to general risk management rather than specific requirements related to insurance
companies or pension plans.

Hi everyone,

I started browsing through the case study and it is not immediately clear from the first few pages whether I need to read the material that is not applicable to my extension. For example, if I elect the Individual Life and Annuities Extension, I will be tested on Simple Life and possibly on the holding company. What about the Health and P&C companies? Do I need to familiarise myself with the content, but not pay too much attention, or should I study the whole case study?

If you elect the ILA extension, you are required to read the information about Simple Life (p.15-48). Therefore, these pages are the key pages that you must focus on.

Even though it does not state that you are required to read the Lyon Corporation (the holding company) (p.9-14), I suggest reading those pages.

For the other pages (for the other extensions), I suggest reading them once (just get a brief idea on what it is).

The Case Study Analysis in the PAK Exam Aid will discuss the materials in each extension in details.
