+7.8 IMPs playing w/dulces ($0), 3rd in section
24.42 I open the auction 1D [1S] X [XX] 2H [2S] 4H [P] P [4S] X All pass the spade bidder has a weak 2 bid with a void, redoubling partner has nothing worth saying. They go down 1100, we can't even make 4H and we certainly belong there. +15IMPs But on the second I pass with a ratty 11 count. The auction goes 1D by LHO, 4C by partner, all pass. A good 14-count with 6 clubs, and we make 6 and lose IMPs. Dulces: "I only needed a little bit from you partner, so you could bid 5 with your hand" Falco: "But 4 is weak"Dulces: "Not to me it isn't"

27.9 IMPs playing w/tobyawhite, 2nd in section
23.79 The last hand of the night goes [1NT] 2D (D+maj) [3C] I have xxx x AKxx T9xxxThe hand sounds very conducive to a cross ruff so I raise to 3D and the auction continues 4C 5C which I double. My K lead is ruffed but the guy with the long trumps has had them shortened. Then partner shows up with a trump on the first trick! (i.e. declarer started with 4 and I see 3 in dummy). This is a nasty surprise to declarer, and he ends up going -500 when 4 is cold. 3 was stayman - of course! ![]()

73.92% MPs playing w/terri46 ($0), 2nd overall
21.14 Partner is playing 6 ![]() Tx ATxxxxx K Axx AKQ98x Jx AQxx x1 2 3 4 4NT 5 6 .Getting to the slam was worth 92% alone, but it took some doing by our opponents to give us 100%. LHO led the 8 (from K8xx mind you). Partner made the expected play: A, K, ruff, ruff, draw trump, run diamonds, run spades. On the run of the spades each opponent came down to Q K & K Q and partner dropped both honors with the ace and won the last heart. ![]()
