Default possible to become an ASA without VEEs?

is it possible to become an ASA without completing VEEs?
and I've always thought that you have to take classes at University to get VEE credits but I just peeked at some posts and it seems to me that you can do it online?

What are alternatives to taking classes at University to get VEE credits?

You can't get your ASA without VEEs.

Here are some alternatives to approved college courses:

CLEP, Actex, and NEAS for VEE Econ
CPCU 540 and NEAS for VEE Corp Fin
Actex and NEAS for VEE Applied Statistics

The ones I've bolded seem to be the best options for the respective VEEs.

It's possible I guess if you have credit for the old course 2 and 4.

Thanks,
I just remembered that I took online courses for micro/macro econs. Is there difference between those classes and VEE Econ? Do I need to specifically take 'VEE' Econ in order to qualify for ASA?

'VEE' is the title soa gives it after you've taken the approved courses that give you the credit. if you already took online courses for micro/macro then you need to check the approved list (if those weren't the actex or neas online classes) to see if they make the cut. if not you can go thru the process of getting them approved (paperwork from soa). then you fill out the app for vee listing those courses you took and then it'll show up as 'VEE' on your transcript.

You know, the SOA website is a pretty good starting place for info about SOA requirements...

The courses you took may already be approved. Check the list on the SOA website.

If they haven't been approved but the syllabus meets the SOA requirements, you can apply to have the courses approved. The approved courses aren't special "VEE" courses, just courses that the SOA has already agreed cover their syllabus.

If you haven't taken appropriate courses, I recommend the choices that actuary_aspire bolded - especially the CLEP for Econ (read the "CLEP=CAKE" thread!) and ACTEX for Stats.

I searched for test centers in Korea for CLEP and three results came up.
But the Test Center Availability says Limited and On Base.
What do they mean?
