I noticed on some shows on USA network that they don't bleep some swear words but they get censored in the closed captioning. But usually give the first letter or two so you know what the word is but it doesn't show up. I also don't understand that type of censoring.

Heh. Because I am almost totally deaf, I always rely on captioning on TV. I can, however, read lips pretty well, so I usually catch the naughty words and note that the captioning omitted them.

IMO, it's not a question of good or bad, or values, or protection, but rather, that some people would prefer not to experience the "stench" (i.e. they don't want to figuratively smell the poop of hearing the "f" word pronounced, as they may gag at the stench), but they don't find knowing that someone else has said it (or is passing along such info) to be particularly offensive (or smelly).

I kind of get it.

I'm absolutely not a saint when it comes to strong, even foul language, especially if I get irked -- on occasion for comic effect -- but will I have to support PP if she goes on a quest to wipe out certain, much over-used verbiage referring to piles of something-or-another. Even in Political. One hopes she will continue such a policy after the current administration gets its walking papers.

If the Outpost becomes a cesspool, its days will be numbered.

Why thank you. If you notice republicans being referred to with that sort of language, please report it. (or actors, or scientists, or posters, or...)

I moderate with as much integrity as I can. It would be a dereliction of duty to ignore stuff just because I'd posted in a thread. I'm really sorry that I deleted posts your buddy made. okay, not really

But I'm pretty sure he's a grown-up with a real vocabulary, and can manage to post his opinion without resorting to bathroom language.

Other than off-color stuff, I only deleted posts that were about moderation -- as I promised I would.

And I described which bathroom language I would be moderating pretty precisely. If it makes you feel any better, I deleted stuff from several other posters, too. I don't remember which ones, because I wasn't really paying attention to that.
