I've stopped following the news for about the past month or so.

For a very long time (my whole adult life probably), I've hated the local news and have avoided that - but I've still always kept up with the national/global news on the internet.

But gradually I just started realizing more and more how much crap is in the news and how much time I waste with it. I figure if there's any really huge news I'll hear about it.

Anyway, life has been better since throwing out the news. Just a little thing that makes a little difference - but enough of a difference that I'm happy with it.

Whatever I don't catch on the AO I usually pick up from TIME magazine. Other than that it's kind of a mixed bag - some days I check out CNN.com, other days I go to the BBC.

Mainly Fox and Drudge for national/international stuff.

Occasionally look at the local newspaper and news stations' websites for local news, just to make sure there isn't a serial killer loose in my neighborhood.

Local news on TV, & news.google.com most days.

I'm on the CNN breaking news email list, so if anything major hits I usually find out about it right away.
