I listen to music while studying, in particular music from movies. The three movie soundtracks I listen to are The Dark Knight, Michael Clayton, and Inception. The artists of these are Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard.

I highly recommend white/pink/grey noise for reading if you like to study anywhere in public.

As strange as it sounds, I found Hard Rock/Metal the best music to study to. It was enjoyable, yet not enjoyable enough to be focused more on the music than the study (Classical music, for example, would get me too involved in the music). Heavy baselines/beats can drown out background noise better than Jazz/Pop. The lyrics are usually best ignored and so will not be a distraction (unlike Folk) -- that is if you can even make them out (Ozzie is not known for diction/enunciation ).

Studying Part 8 (new part 9) with "Zombie Stomp" or Priest's N"NightCrawler" is an experience

I like to listen to dubstep mostly, sometimes chillstep if I'm in that mood. I tend to get distracted very easily, so the music is literally a constant distraction (plus I thoroughly enjoy it) instead of me just losing focus. Another point is that if I'm starting to tire or get bored, I can turn it up louder for an extra spurt of energy.
