Default Actuaries in Russia

Hello people,

I would like to know what the state of the profession in Russia is. I have visited http://www.guildofactuaries.ru/, which seems to be available in Russian only, and http://www.actuaries.ru/eng/. I see the Russian Guild of Actuaries has attained full membership with the IAA, but still do not understand the entire picture. For example:

- When was the profession first established?
- Where do people study to become qualified actuaries? On their own? At universities? If the latter, in which cities?
- What steps does the qualification process entail?
- This link http://www.actuaries.ru/eng/community/ mentions a "Society of actuaries". How does this Society relate to the Russian Guild of Actuaries?

If you have worked in Russia or know someone who has worked there, I would also very much appreciate your comments on personal experience.

I'm not sure how it works in Russia, but you could try using Google to translate the website. Go to http://translate.google.com/, enter in that url ( http://www.guildofactuaries.ru/ ) and hit "translate".

Or just use this link:

- in 1994, when the society of actuaries was established.
- there are exams held by the guild of actuaries. But there are no universities which prepare actuaries.
- in russian version of http://www.actuaries.ru there are announcements about exams.
- Russian Guild of Actuaries was established on the base of Society of actuaries in 2002.

p.s. I'm the trainee in the IAAC http://www.iaac.ru/eng/ , the organization which owns http://www.actuaries.ru, thus, sorry for mistakes)

What is the situation like for someone with ACAS, 2-4 years US experience, fluent in Russian, and no visa issues to find a job in Russia? What would be the best way to go about looking, ie. look through a US company or go for something in Russia directly?
