Which would mean he votes for Democrats.

Reagan said things like "Church and state are, and must forever remain, separate." That wouldn't fly in today's GOP.

Nobody is perfect. Reagan was pretty close.

Really? Who is saying that Church and state should be integrated?

Context was important. It's not like he was angling to stop Christmas from being a federal holiday or cancel the tree-lighting ceremony.

In the context in which Reagan meant it, I don't think you'd find too many elected Republicans who feel differently.

The "Moral Majority" ramped up at that time and strongly influenced the GOP, so your point is lost.

Wait, I forgot that "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back" was released in 1980, thus totally redeeming that year. Redeem that year, it did.

Anyway, unless the Soviets got 3000 innocent people killed in an attack by Afghanistan....I'm not seeing the parallel.
Yup. That changes EVERYTHING because nobody has ever died in other countries.

3000 innocent Americans (redundant) died on 9/11. This means everything changed:

* Suspend our constitution.
* Spend more than necessary on the military.
* Invade multiple countries, and stay there for over 10 years.
* Max 3 ounces of liquid on a plane.

Imagine if it had been 10,000 innocent Americans?
