Default Candidates announces for SOA section councils

http://www.soa.org/leadership/electi...tion-bios.aspx
Check the whatever sections you belong to, and decide who deserves your support. IMO, the sections do not play the same political games as the SOA nominating committee, discussed in other threads.

If you are one of the candidates and want my support, and if you don't mind revealing your real name to me, send me a PM. I will list your name in this thread without reference to your AO ID.

I'm on the ballot for Forecasting and Futurism, and would love the support of anyone who thinks that I'd be a good candidate.

(Hopefully from the four candidates, it's obvious by now which one I am - if it's not, then note that I'm the one who looks surprisingly like my avatar. DISCLAIMER: if elected, my head will not spin around like my avatar.)

What happens if you are NOT elected?

I will do endorsements as well, but only for the sections I'm a member of

For convenience, here is the list of those sections:
Quote:
Actuary of the Future
Financial Reporting
Investment
Joint Risk Management (SOA - CAS - CIA)
Management & Personal Development
Reinsurance
Technology

My first endorsement is for Sophia Dao, for the Management & Personal Development Section.

Sophia has been active on several E&E committees since soon after becoming an FSA in 2007, and is treasurer at her local Toastmasters Club. She's also been active as a volunteer at the Academy in Life Financial Reporting. I think her energy would serve the section council well.

Just doing my section council voting right now.

I have another endorsement: Kenneth Birk for Management & Personal Development section

Kenneth has been very active in the section itself, and is the current President of the Actuaries' Club of Hartford & Springfield. I think his energy is well-suited for the section council.

In addition to that endorsement of Kenneth, I endorse the M&PD section in general -- lots of great sessions at SOA meetings, The Stepping Stone is an excellent newsletter, and being involved in that section helps one expand one's general business skills into "softer" directions.

I don't see anything official so far, but I was notified over a week ago, so I just wanted to thank all of those who took the time to vote for me. I'm looking forward to helping guide the Forecasting and Futurism section...well, into the future (or should that be "well into the future"?).
