Default Nasty Recruiter then calls back with offer

looking for some advice here (though the answer is probably obvious):

i received an offer from a company, but there some sticking points that I wasn't ready to accept in switching. i tried hard to make these points to clear to the recruiter, but they never seemed to get it and they assumed I was ready to accept the offer.
i finally got the point through to them, and they were really nasty because they felt it wasn't achievable (said things like this will really hurt your reputation and i hope you never do this to another recruiter).
then 5 minutes later they call me back saying they just spoke with the company and the company was going to be flexible and give me what i wanted.

so now I'm really angry at the recruiter, but I also kind of want the job (though not jumping for it either).

should I stiff the recruiter or take the job and let the recruiter get his commission?

You want the job and they agreed to all of your conditions? Take it.

I understand this recruiter did not behave well, but turning down an offer you want just to spite him/her would be a bad move for you.

pretty sure it's against forum rules to trash talk specific recruiters on here by name, so that might get deleted.

I sorta had this happen with a company's recruiter. One was a complete jerk and after they flew me out, interviewed well, they dragged their feet and then kept moving the goalposts on salary expectation. After I subtly pointed this out, I got put through the ringer with all kinds of passive aggressive 'good luck in your endeavors' stuff.

I told him good luck in his search. No joke.

And guess what, this was MY FORMER EMPLOYER. I was going to be a golden boomerang. lmao

The company has responded to your requests. Those requests are assumed to be the things you need to accept the job. Declining now would probably be worse for your future reputation among the actuarial profession than whatever reputation the recruiter would make up and spread through the recruiter profession.

Stop having feelings.

But learn from this, and never work with that recruiter again. No need to tell the recruiter. Just don't respond to e-mails/linkedIn, and always say you're not looking if the recruiter calls. Because, now that you are marked as a "mover," you are a recruiter's meal ticket, and you'll get calls every three months or so. Whatever date is set on the recruiter's calendar to call and chat with every one of their "clients."
Oh, and tell people about whom you care what this recruiter did.

I had a recruiter who lied to me about a pretty important detail. I wanted the job so I accepted the offer.

I just do it over it on the actuary subreddit. Shitty recruiters should be exposed.
