Default is this flambouyant?

So I posted this in the "jackass at the exam" thread but it didnt even draw a comment...makes me wonder if I am like the "jackass". Would you be upset about this?

Quote:
at my exam center for FSA level, there was one guy who
1) set a clock on the desk that beeped three times dueing the morning half. Someone complained at lunch so his alarm was turned off in the afternoon, but really...shouldnt someone have said something the first time it happened.
2) same guy, wrote his candidate number on a few pages after pencil down was called while we were all putting our pages in the envelopes. Did this both morning and afternoon. I believe someone told one of the proctors during lunch break, but that guy wasnt there at the end of the afternoon, so who knows if anyone besides those of us sitting near saw it.
3) during read through, same guy had pencil in hand and was sort of using it as a pointer to read. Would be really easy to underline too.

Overall it was just annoying that he seemed to be so flamboyantly breaking rules. I am the person who pushes the pencil completely away during readthrough and after pencils down. And how is the clock beeping not similar to phone or pager going off, which supposedly disqualifies.

I think the word you're looking for is "flagrant," not "flamboyant"--unless the candidate in question was twirling the pencil as he used it as a pointer.

Think of it like a movie. The Torah is the first one, and the New Testament is the sequel. Then the Qu'ran comes out, and it retcons the last one like it never happened. There's still Jesus, but he's not the main character anymore, and the messiah hasn't shown up yet.

Jews like the first movie but ignored the sequels, Christians think you need to watch the first two, but the third movie doesn't count, Moslems think the third one was the best, and Mormons liked the second one so much they started writing fanfiction that doesn't fit with ANY of the series canon."

yeah, flamboyant would be if he started singing show tunes or something. But even replacing flamboyant with flagrant wouldn't make much sense as a thread title. Maybe something like "Is this an egregious breaking of SOA exam taking rules?" would be a nice title.

And to the OP, yes, that would bother me and I would hope the proctor noticed it. If you report on him, that would probably have zero credibility with the SOA, though.

Just to clarify, it was not merely the word choice in the thread title that I was responding to, but this particular sentence as well.

Wouldn't "blatant" be most appropriate?

Yes but one has to think of a word that fits both the title and the sentence, belligerent maybe?

I think I meant flagrant or blatant...and managed to combine

Regardless, as mentioned above, this activity was reported over lunch period to proctors, but some items didnt seem to change in second half. Maybe they were just noting it and not talking to him about it though. I was totally shocked that it was taking place at FSA level exams though.

Really, really??

The word "blatant" need not be used with an object, so it could be used in the thread title.

Proctors do not need to stop the behavior, they only have to report the behavior.
