Default Gadhafi Livens Up Lackluster Arab Summit

Quote:
Expounding his typically blunt view of the world, the Libyan leader said Wednesday that Palestinians and Israelis are "stupid," scoffed at Western pressure for reform in the Arab world and warned that a mixed-gender Islamic prayer service in New York would encourage terrorism.

Gadhafi noted a woman led the service Friday that brought men and women together for Muslim prayers in a meeting room at a Manhattan cathedral. He said the service violated Islam.

Such disrespect, he said, "creates millions of bin Ladens," referring to al-Qaida terror network leader Osama bin Laden. "They have to respect us. ... They have to respect the Islamic world."

I never realized Islam had so much in common with Catholicism.

History lesson.

Islam holds itself as the descendant of Christianity and Judaism.

Not that you would recognize a fact if it came up behind you and hit you over the head with a hookah.

I think the Muslims, Jews, and Christians need to recognize that.

I thought it was Qaddafi? Or Qhadafi?

It seemed it started with a Q in the 80s...

The spelling of his name hasn't changed at all. The problem is that it's in a foreign language in a non-Roman alphabet.

The initial letter is pronounced like a hard G or a K or Q (without the "you") and is sometimes spelled with any of those letters.

In a similar fashion, the Jewish holiday in November/December is חנוכה. In Roman letters it is spelled Hanuka, Chanukah, Hannukah, etc.
