Default ... and everyone would be wrong!

On page 2 of the Gosh Does My Gun Make me Feel Safe thread, Shekky made the statement that

I responded that he was correct. Most people "know" this and stated further that most people are wrong.

While they are highly restricted and no longer manufactured or imported in any normal sense, they are not illegal. I personally know several registered owners who routinely shoot full auto both for fun and in competition.

That is not why I started this thread however. It got me to thinking about all the other things that everyone "knows" but where everyone is "wrong". Here is the place for everyone to list what they know to be false and believe to be "well known".

In addition to the falsehood that automatic firearms are illegal, I am often bothered by those that "know" that they are entitled to a jury of their peers. In fact, the concept of peerage is a distinctly British affliction. I believe that in the United Kingdom, you are, in fact, entitled to a jury of your peers. Perhaps in Canada as well. Here in the US you are entitled to a jury that represents the party that was injured. For example, if you murder someone in New York City, you should expect a jury that is made up of typical citizens of NYC. The fact that you consider yourself an aristocrat from Boston will have no bearing on your jury, as you are decidedly NOT entitled to a jury of your peers.

Any more?
