Default My First Thanksgiving (in a way)

Okay, so considering this is my first Thanksgiving EVER spent away from any family (Mini-Me excluded) it wouldn't be my life if it were uneventful. It's 11 AM Thanksgiving day, and thus far, I had to throw away my first cake last night b/c I decided to believe Splenda and use their baking Splenda and it ruined my cake! Considering we always have red velvet cake, I had to run out to the store last night and buy more red food coloring and make it all over again. This is also my first time doing yeast rolls. Considering how badly it can turn out if the yeast is not done right, I'm a nervous wreck! My first attempt at the yeast was an utter disaster! Called Mommy again, cousin gave better directions and PERFECT! Dough is on its second rising right now. Oh, but those are minor in the way of how badly can things go today. MM wakes up this morning and says she has a headache, stiff neck, and her nose burns (???). After a call to the Dr.'s office, we are waiting for the after-hour pediatric ctr to open (at 1 PM) to go get her checked out. I'm amazingly calm considering the possibilities that could stem from her symptoms. I think once we get to the Dr. that will change. In the meantime, we'll wait for the turkey to cook and dough to rise and hope no more incidents occur!

Hope everyone else's day goes better than mine!

Well, from a comment I just read in another thread, I'm assuming you're Canadian? So for you, it's not a big deal (unless you're originally from here and it's a sacrifice you had to make to take a job to the north).

I'm doing much better than I was last night. A few items were thrown, a few cabinet doors slammed, a few tears shed. But, even with the slight misstep and the sick child, things are going amazingly smoothly. She's hoping she's well enough to go out tonight. I promised her a movie...."Yours, Mine, & Ours"
