Default Israeli election results

Quote:
After the exit polls were announced, chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat said he was surprised Israelis checked more doves than hawks on the ballot, and he likened his surprise to the confusion Israelis felt when Palestinians elected Hamas to lead them in January.

"Two months ago Palestinian voters managed to confuse and surprise Israelis," Erakat said. "Tonight, Israeli voters managed to confuse and surprise us."
Is it just me, or is he totally nuts? Israelis were surprised and confused because Hamas was elected. So they were confused because a bad thing happened. Hamas doesn't want peace, and israelis are concerned about it. How can he compare it to Israel electing a gov't that wants to give land to the Palis? Why are they shocked? Because it means they're going to get more land? I'm shocked that the stupid guy compares the two.

Quote:
He further expressed hope that Israel would abandon unilateralism and embrace peace negotiations with Palestinians.
Um... it's the Palis who don't want to negotiate, you know that, right?

I'll take the Chief Negotiator for the Palesitinian's word over some anti-Arab American Jew posting on the internet on that point.

Dude, you need to talk to someone.

Still, good for the Israelis - they seemed to move toward peaceful negotiations.

I'm sorry... how many times has the Hamas led Pali government said that they will not pursue peace with Israel?

There's a job with no future while Hamas is in power. Almost as dead-ended as my job.

You have a much better chance at seeing results under HJamas, than when a party without control of arms were in power. Otherwise, I could go talk to the Israel gov and come up w/ an agreement. It probabaly would do no good, huh?

I know you personally hate Hamas, but being forced to actually govern may force them to cope w/ reality.

I know it's a reality, but face the facts: Hamas may be better equipped to enforce a treaty, but first they have to want one. As of now, they're not interested in peace. they said so themselves.

You know you're never going to get an answer to that...

Let's face it ACCtuary. Most of the people here blame Israel for everything going on there. They say Israelis are just as bad as the Pali extremists.
