Default Birthing Centers

Im trying to find out what percentage of all Maternity services occur in Birthing Centers (Midwives etc), my estimate is somewhere between 5-10%, any thoughts?

You'll need a careful definition of "Birthing Center." There are birthing centers that are stand-alone clinics, birthing centers that are next to hospitals, birthing centers that are part of hospitals--and midwives work in all 3, as well as in standard hospital settings and in homes. (Also--midwives incorporates several different types of practitioners, with different trainings.)

That said, 5-10% of US births attended by midwives sounds about right.
