I haven't really heard anyone use the word since high school either. It was always used as a slur. The only exception is that one Neon Trees song.

Unfortunately, one cannot change the connotation of a word by themselves, no matter what the denotation is. I'm all for using it as a blanket statement and not associating it as a slur in my mind if I can comfortably expect the people I talk with to do the same, but I don't want to take that risk myself. Not yet

Interesting that it doesn't appear on either the offensive or inoffensive side, and that they also truncated to just LGBT.

I got in trouble in a constitutional law class I was auditing in college.

Someone gave a rationale on Marbury v Madison and I said that his argument was "queerly expressed."

What an uproar!
