This new version is based on the Pocket Edition of Minecraft, which you may have seen running on mobile phones and tablets, but has one key difference: you can program it. All you have to do is set up a network connection to the running game, and then you can send text commands to control the world.
Hard to tell where it fits in the feature department, since it is much more functional than the lite version.

I finally got my Chromebook yesterday. I have it booting Ubuntu (or Chrubuntu, I guess). Minecraft works. Barely. Not well, is what I'm trying to say.

Don't know if I posted this anywhere.

mrs yoyo and I went to Europe in September. we live in metro atlanta, so were flying out of the ATL. packed my chromebook for the trip, put in a separate bin at security, go through the checkpoint, and go to the nearby bench to put shoes back on, etc. my clothing bin was stacked on top of the bin containing my chromebook. sure enough, i forget to retrieve it from the bottom bin. we go on out to the international concourse and go to a restaurant for a meal. it's been about 30-45 mins since we left security when i realize i had forgotten to pick up the chromebook.

i immediately call lost and found. the very nice man on the phone took my info and said he would submit my claim for me since we were leaving for a couple of weeks. thanks, bro.

get back from Europe and no message from lost and found. he assured me that they would call if it turned up. i had mentally written it off anyway - $250 down the drain. good thing i hadn't taken the MBA with us. weeks go by.

a very nice woman called me last week to tell me that they had my chromebook! i gave a detailed description of the lock screen avatar, def my chromebook. turns out that something got messed up when entering my claim in their computer system. supervisor goes through all the new electronics items turned in at the end of the month following the month that the item was turned in. basically just matching found items to open claims and looking for stuff not accounted for, something like that.

went down to the airport today and picked it up. Yay!

props to all the honest folks out there!

What's better: a chromebook or a 10" tablet? I'm looking to buy either a chromebook or a Nexus 10, but can't decide which one to get...I basically want something to check email or surf the web when I'm not in front-of my desktop PC at home....and probably watch mlb.tv also

If you want to do any significant editing/writing/creating of stuff, you'll probably want something with an actual keyboard. If not, then a tablet is a very handy, compact way to consume content (and shoot off short emails and such).

I'd go with both, if you can. Laptop is my preferred method usually, but laying in bed the tablet or phone is much better.

Just ordered the 4GB Acer C720 for spouse. Curious to see how it goes over. It will be used for writing and media consumption.
