Question Does anyone here use Docker?

I've been hearing some mention of this software being thrown around here and there and I started to read a little bit about it. It looks like it was founded a few years ago, so any news about it just completely flew over my head. But, it seems to be growing rapidly in popularity.

I checked out a book and read a few chapters, but a lot of it is lost on me as it seems to be geared towards people who write software for a living. I can see how it's really useful for development though.

Does anyone use it?

I have a Synology NAS at my house and it has Docker on it. I use it to run specific, small tasks. The main one is the controller for my wifi access points (Ubiquiti Unifi APs). It is a tiny program that I don't want to have a dedicated machine up and running for so it is nice to run it in the background on a NAS.

I think you are right though, the main draw is for developers who have to work in many environments and don't want to mess up their entire machine if something goes wrong.
