Anyone watching? I liked the first episode overall. Cinematography was excellent and I like the casting so far. This is def a series that I'm glad they can drag out a bit more as a TV show. A bit iffy about McAvoy -- I like the character but I haven't liked how he's portraying Asriel. The girl playing Lyra is perfect imo.

I read the books. Not a big fan of books so overtly anti-religion.

If I hear good reviews I'll try it. Fantasy is hard to make into a movie. Too easy to substitute narrative for action/special effects.

I really liked the stars of the books. Lyra and Will make excellent heroes. Way better than Frodo/Harry/Edmund...

I also liked certain descriptions, like how the Alethiometer works is a perfect description of Tarot.

1st book was great. Kind of went a little strange after that. Don’t have HBO but if it gets good reviews will put in Netflix queue when it comes out there.

Yeah. I can barely remember the others. Mediocre scifi elements jump to mind.

DVR'd. I enjoyed the books many years ago. I didn't hate the film as much as others when it came out either.

The film seemed rather disjointed.

That's because it was FUBAR'd by the director. Similar to Eragon.
