It also seems fundamentally dishonest to connect proposed changes to Social Security to the additional deficit created by the tax "reform".

As crappy as the "reform" was, it really has nothing to do with the viability of Social Security. The OASDI taxes collected have been insufficient to cover the OASDI benefits paid out for several years now, and the tax "reform" didn't touch that. Social Security would be in exactly the same amount of trouble with or without the GOP's turd of a tax bill.

Questions for Bruce about the 2 year 2% FICA tax break:
1) Am I correct in thinking that was taken entirely from Social Security and not at all from Medicare?

2) Did Congress actually kick in the missing 2% from general revenues such that the whole thing was a net neutral from a size-of-the-trust-fund perspective?
