Skim the textbook as fast as you can. Jot down notes and make a few flashcards based on the CA handouts and videos. Complete assignment #1, cheating as you go. Send CA an email asking for possible timeframes for the final (pace this carefully since I was scheduled for only a week after my request). Complete assignments #2 and #3 similarly. The day before the final, redo the assignments again, trying not to cheat, but at the same time you can raise your other assignment scores. Btw, assignment #3 covers basically all of the material.

Take the final with 20 minutes to spare. The end.
This is spot on. I skimmed the recommended textbook, did the practice problems in the textbook, took some notes, and managed to get through the 3 homework assignments in 10 days. I scheduled my final exam 3 weeks after the day I purchased the course, so I had to wait another 10 days to take the exam. I provided my own proctor at my office.

It's overkill, but redoing the homeworks as practice the two days before the exam was effective. I redid each one 4-5 times. It sounds like a lot, but I was knocking them out in 8-10 minutes. The exam had maybe only one problem that I hadn't seen 2-4 times before. I finished with 20 minutes to spare.

I spent about 30 hours on the course and got all but 1 problem correct on both the homework assignments and exam. I highly recommend Coaching Actuaries for this VEE component.

I purchased this earlier this week and finished the first three units so was about to take assignment 1.

Are there time restraints on these? How long does each one take?

I wanted to make sure I wasn't starting an assignment if I wasn't sure I'd have time to finish it.

There is a 24 hour time limit on the assignments. They shouldn't take much more than 60-90 minutes to complete, however.

I took multiple small breaks and double-checked my work, but still finished within an hour and a half for all three assignments. The first assignment is probably the most time-consuming since it involves more computational problems.

The textbook for this course can be purchased from VitalSource at https://www.vitalsource.com/products...alt-solutions- cfa-institute-v9781119262688. This textbook is only available in electronic format.

If you are outside North America, we recommend this text:

DeFusco, et.al. Quantitative Methods for Investment Analysis (2nd Edition). Baltimore, MD: CFA Institute, 2004. ISBN 13: 978-1932495089
