Default Exam 8 - Fall 2019 Progress Thread

Because some of you know you're going to be here no matter what, and some of you are going to be here because of results the last time around.

If I end up passing 6 in the Spring, I'll definitely be joining.

This seems like the right place.

Should I wait for a 2019 syllabus or just order things now?

I wouldn't *buy* anything just yet. There's plenty of free downloads (vast majority of 2018 syllabus) that should keep you busy for quite a while. If you really want to start already on Exam 8 for the Fall 2019 sitting, I'd recommend the GLM monograph. It's excellent and I can't imagine they'll remove it from the 2019 syllabus.

Why not try for Exam 7 in May first? (I'm assuming you just passed 6, but haven't updated sig)

Any changes for 2019 should be announced mid-January. I'd just start with the 2018 syllabus and work with it until changes are announced, then modify as needed. If you wait for the '19 syllabus to finally get published, you're going to be waiting a few months.

As noted, anything currently available will be more than enough to keep you busy until then. I don't expect major changes, and I agree that it's probably a really safe bet the GLM paper (as well as the Fisher study note) are unlikely to disappear.

I would say GLM, Fisher, Bahnemann, and Clark are almost definite to stay on the syllabus, and all/most of their content can be studied without a guide or without reading other papers.

The source for this one is quite good.

Looks like I'll get some of the pdfs from the CAS and plug away on those till they update for 2019

Accurate, I won't be able to start studying till mid-late January, and I'd hate to start Fellowship exams with a significant handicap.
