just found this on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-HD-DV.../dp/B000JHO4L0

not a bad price, since hd-dvd players are selling for around 500 right now

reading a review on cnet.com reveals that 1080p is not supported when connected via the component cables (it says the player connects to the 360 via USB - and I assume the connection to the TV is via the same cables the system uses), however, 1080i is.

Furthermore, 1080p is supported when connected via the VGA cables to a capable 1080p tv with a VGA input. I found the VGA cable at BB for around $40.

Currently, DVI and HDMI are not supported. However, given how the 360 runs it's cables (standard plug on the 360 end) it's possible that they could change this (I'm not sure of the technical aspects of a DVI or HDMI cable given the standard plug)

posted this in the "which system for my kids" thread as well, but it belongs here too

http://money.cnn.com/2006/11/06/comm...ion=2006110709

microsoft (via xbox live) will be launching movie rentals and tv show rentals/purchases (some, but not all, available in high definition)

in theory, that sounds pretty cool

so I was surprised that on Sunday, there was no one camping out at Best Buy yet. The one closest to my condo typically gets more than most stores when it comes to this kind of thing (when most stores were getting 20 360 systems and they were getting 40). Anyway, I know it doesn't release until Friday, but I thought I would see a few crazy people out there

I just found out that NFL Street 3 will be released this week on PS2 and PSP but not on 360...

If it was coming out on 360, I would be at the store tonight to get one (a 360 that is). As it stands, I still have a decision to make come tax return time.

I think, once I get around to getting a 'next gen' system (most likely early to mid 2008, when I plan on using my sign-on bonus (if any) on frivolous things such as entertainment system, vacation, ring for my fiancée/wife), I won't bother using the 360 or PS3 for HD-DVD or Blu-ray playback. I'll just get an HD-DVD or Blu-ray player. ::shrugs::

I think that is all a myth. I would think at earliest people will start waiting at wed night, but I'm not even sure that would happen.
