Thanks all. My mom is taking it pretty well, my dad not quite so much. Even though he tries to seem tough, he's a sucker for pets and this cat was his buddy and followed him everywhere. I was pretty impressed with Chewy.com; my mom sent them an email this morning to cancel their account and they already sent a nice condolence email and refunded the cost of the shipment they received last week, even though they'd already used some of it and are donating the rest of it to an animal shelter.

I lost my cat today after having her for nearly 18 years. She'd been slowly fading over the last few months and took a turn for the worse while I was away for the last couple of weeks. She was in rough shape when I got home yesterday and when I brought her into the vet today she ended up passing away on her own shortly after the vet called off running some diagnostic tests and suggested/I agreed to euthanize her. I knew this time was coming and was somewhat prepared, but it's still been an absolutely rotten day.
