I spent the last 4 days at the Atlin Arts and Music festival. Was a fun time, and all new to me artists. Was great to not drive for almost 4 days!
I love the Haines area. Not a lot to the town, but I've gone there twice on excursions from a cruise for a wildlife tour. I've seen a bear, a wolf, and lots of bald eagles.

Latest post is a bit sad. There's a lot of sad history in Canada, I went to a blanket ceremony at the arts festival and learned more about the injustice of the native people. I didn't know so much about the residence schools.

Yes, the indigenous population in Canada historically was badly treated. In the past few decades there has been a great deal of effort in trying to partially rectify the situation but still a long ways to go.

I saw a lynx last night! And a porcupine a few days ago. First time I've seen either of these in the wild.

Exciting! I saw a lynx in Alaska, in Denali National Park. I've never seen a porcupine.

Just made it to my 48th state (Idaho). Just AK and HI left. Also been to 69 countries, so my ultimate goal is all 50 states and 100 different countries.

Nice! AK and HI were my last two also. I currently have all 50 states but only about 15 countries (16 before the end of the year).

I visited both HI and AK in the last year. Alaska is quickly becoming my favorite state. I cannot fathom the beauty here. It has literally brought me to (happy) tears more than once... and lots more to come.

The porcupine was so cute. I could see it in the road ahead so I pulled over to the side, rolled down my window, and stopped the car. It just walked right by me. After it passed, I rolled up the window and the noise startled him. Luckily no quills in my tires!
