I remember reading somewhere about banking firms giving sales presentations at tech companies found the sales went better when they dressed similar to their audience. Showing up in a bunch of suites when the audience was wearing flip flops showed a lack of understanding and relatability to their potential clients. I think looking at an interview similarly is fine.

I would also guess many candidates might not be aware of the casual attire and show up in suites. You would stand out in that regard, especially since you're presenting yourself as part of their team already. It's much easier to picture you being a good fit for their culture when they meet you in casual wear. Assuming you interview well and are what they're looking for I wager this helps you more than hurts you.

Edit: clearly I didn't read the entire thread and now realize the interview is passed, either way I'll leave this here.

Suites? Usually interviews are in large office buildings, not just suites. Maybe a small company? Maybe a swypo?
