Default Study Strategies

Before I get into my question here's where I stand:

I'm at Georgia State University and am in my major courses.

Actuarial Sciences major.

I'm working on Exam P.

So I'm barely knee deep into this game. I enjoy working these problems and all. Exam P, Life Contingencies, and Theory of Interest are what I've been working on this semester.

I understand the math behind these problems most of the time. The issue for me is the problems as presented. I have the information in front of me. 80% of the difficulty is figuring out what to do with the information in the problem in order to set up the math to solve the problem. The math usually isn't that bad once the problem is set up. I figure it's mostly a matter of practice and doing 100s if not 1000s of these problems over time to get to where it becomes more natural. Some new problems that I'm not so familiar with may take 15 minutes or more to solve at first too.

Any of you folks have some tips that may make this process a little easier and less time consuming so I can cover more ground a little faster?

Thank you!
