Question ASU alumni or current students - how was/is ASU for act.sci.?

I'm a mid-life career changer to actuarial work, and I'm currently living and working in the Phoenix AZ area. I have one daughter who's a senior in high school and considering following my lead. So we're looking at universities, and of course, we're looking at ASU as a possibility so she can stay at home with us.

Is there anyone out there who is going to, or has gone to ASU for math/stats aiming for a career as an actuary? I'd love to hear comments, good or bad, on how your ASU experience was/has been.

I graduated last year 2014 in May with a BS in Math and am pursuing an actuarial position currently. ASU really helped me with exam preparation for the first two exams P and FM. ASU actuary club leadership is relatively new (2-3 years) and they're very enthusiastic about the new ActScience degree. There's a lot of support and interaction with insurance and consulting companies in the valley as well so definitely go to club meetings.

I would strongly encourage an internship while still in college. I've passed two exams and have my degree and am having a hard time finding an entry level position. Maybe it's just me but I think the work experience is a huge part of it. While having a math background is great, I'm still not familiar with actuarial work.
