i work at a major carrier and the concencus here is that people in ratemaking are far busier than actuaries/analysts in reserving (the equivalent of valuation in P&C)...

i think he meant they use index/match whereas reserving actuaries rely on vlookup

I did a stint in VB pricing, that was like being in a shootout in the wild west.

I did a stint in valuation as well, that was like when you think you have been sleeping for hours but only 5 min have passed.
