Default HireVue Interview

Hi AO,

I have a digital interview that is done through HireVue. I've never done this before, but it seems like you have 30 secs prep time and then 3 minutes to respond to the question.

Does anyone know if these will be introductory questions, such as tell me about yourself or why do you want to work here? Or will there be technical questions?

Thanks

Most of the HireVue interviews I have done have asked introductory questions such as the ones that you listed. However, other companies could ask technical questions, but any difficult technical question/test would probably take more than the 3 minutes you have to answer. I would assume that most companies send these out to many applicants and are mostly looking to see how composed you are and how well you can think on your feet.

I don't understand why people are using these when most of the people here voted that it was a horrible idea in my last thread about it.

Yeah - it seems a bit strange. A simple phone interview could accomplish the same thing if not more imo. Thanks for the feedback and I will prepare accordingly.

I got asked to explain the main product of an insurer I had a hirevue for, but another hirevue I had didn't ask any technical questions. Check to see if you get retakes on each question - if you do you can bomb the first go around and research and rehearse for the second time.

Agree it's much worse for the candidate than a phone interview as a first screen though - glad I landed an offer at a company that didn't make me go through that process.
